A BEAUTIFUL 12th-century village high in the mountains on the Spanish island of Majorca provided the fairytale setting yesterday for the wedding of rock star drummer Caroline Corr.

The beaming bride emerged from the small church in the village of Deia with her husband, Dublin property developer Frank Woods, and posed happily for photographs to the delight of locals and tourists.

Caroline wore a stunning white full-length gown with a simple matching pearl pendant necklace and bracelet. The groom wore an open-necked white shirt and black suit.

Caroline was accompanied by her bridesmaid sisters, Sharon and Andrea, who wore matching elegant satin cherry dresses. The fourth member of the Corrs, brother Jim, was also there and the bride was given away by her father, Gerry.

Some of the best-known names from the world of showbiz attended the wedding, including U2 band members. Bono wore his signature dark glasses and a grey suit with a grey silk flower-embroidered tie, and his wife Ali wore a sophisticated black dress. The Edge wore his trademark black woolly hat, an embroidered white shirt and a two-piece beige suit, while his wife Morleigh wore a green silk top and knee-length silver skirt. Racing driver Eddie Jordan and DJ Tony Fenton were also spotted mingling among the guests.

The wedding ceremony was held in the village's small picturesque stone church and was due to start around 6pm but was delayed due to a power failure.

However, the ceremony then went ahead by candlelight in the flower-laden church, which added to the atmosphere as the couple exchanged vows.

The church was decked out in white roses and lilies, special hymns were performed and an orchestra played during the ceremony.

Afterwards, the wedding party appeared outside for photographs, with the newlyweds kissing and appearing very relaxed.

Security was minimal and both locals and tourists watched as the wedding party posed for pictures and enjoyed the evening sunshine before heading to a nearby luxury hotel to continue the celebrations.

Last night, the couple threw a lavish eception at the five-star Residentia Hotel.

Andrea had arrived with her boyfriend, Giles Baxendale, on Monday and the chart-topping Corrs performed a special song at the reception.

One entire floor of the €750-a-night hotel was booked out by the wedding guests, while the honeymoon suite was decked out with muslin and white lilies.

The top hotel is popular with such stars as Michael Douglas, Rod Stewart, Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith.

Extra security staff were drafted in to ensure privacy for the celebrity wedding.

The couple got engaged in April after a five-year relationship. They first met in a nightclub and quickly became an item.

Rumours were rife when Caroline moved out of Frank's home in Dublin shortly before the wedding of her sister, band violinist Sharon, to Gavin Bonnar in Co Clare last summer. However, earlier this year, she moved back in with him and their wedding plans were finalised.

Frank has jetted all over the world to watch Caroline perform with the hit family band. A friend said: "They are closer than ever now."

Deia is one of Europe's most idyllic locations and is popular with wealthy holidaymakers. The old church is surrounded by pine woods, olive trees, terraced hillsides and ancient cobbled streets that wind down to the sea.
