"Guilty," owns up the only Corr with facial hair. "I was an awful, bad , bold , big brother and i apologise," he beams with a more than a hint of insincerity.
"He was a constant teaser." recalls Caroline. " he used to hide me in a dark corner and turn the lights off and leave me there."
Andrea being the youngest, received her fair share of taunting too. "Jim was such a tease, he couldn't help it. He found it immersely funny to scare you by talking in a spooky voice in your bedroom."
Sharon the eldest sister and violinist extraordinaire recalls not Jim's fun and games, but more of her sisters' peculiarities. "When Andrea was a kid, she used to have a pot-belly! And Caroline used to cry at sad songs. Every morning, a song would come on the radio and Caroline would weep," ahe recalls with a laugh.
Just when i think the revelations have come to an end, there's more. And thid time. they're not childhood reminiscences. " Andrea is dizzy, she loses everything," insists Caroline. "she's always getting lost in airports! We're always looking for Andrea or her passport or her boarding pass... she is dizzy!" Andrea remains slientin apparent agreement with her sister's succinct summing up of her.
Like she's even at all worried; it certainly hasn't stopped her from becoming the most popular member of the Corr family. She's also had the most exposure outside the group, with parts in Alan Parker's The Commitments and Evita. However, a hectic schedule has put a halt to her acting career for the moment, and she has had to turn down roles in both The phantom of the Opera and Four Feathers.
"It's just impossible right now. We're touring for In Blue and I don't believe it's the right," says the sultry singer.
Being the centre of attraction, however, is not always pleasant for Andrea, especailly when the media focus is on her private life. On the subject of her recent affiliation with Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, she has this to say: " Gavin and I are friends and that's it. If I sit with any man, we're both subject to that attention and it's something that I have to disregard. The media is like a parallel universe that you step into and you can step out of. I think that stuff is just too ridiculous to believe."
Something else that has had to take a backseat to the promotion of the group's latest album is Sharon's impending nuptials. She is planning to wed her sweetheart this summer, but not anymore. However, you get the feeling that the music might be taking a backseat for her next time.
"Aside from the music, another interesting and very important part of life for me is family-- having children and putting time into a relationship," admits the fiddle player. "I think there comes a time in your life when you have to reaccess your priorities and focus on the true nature of life. For me, that's having children and teaching them to move on, to be the next generation of parents."
If Sharon's ready to quit the group, it certainly was no apparent at the group's live performance later that night at Taipei. Fans packed the small hangar for the group's first ever concert in Taiwan, where the stage was made to look like he aeroplane from their "Breathless" video. For 50 minutes, Jim alternated between keyboards and guitar, Andrea faultlessly delivered her vocals, Caroline underpinned it with a steady beat, and Sharon fiddled to her heart's content.
By all accounts, the show was an outstanding success, for both the band and the fans alike. " We really do enjoy touring and visiting places that are new to us," explains Caroline. " Playing to a crowd is an amazing experience, and seeing people enjoying themselves means so much to us."
The Corrs can certainly expect many more such 'amazing' experiences
as they set off on a world tour in support of thie new album, dedicated
to their late mother Jean who passed away last year. With 'Breathless'
flying high on the singles chart around the world, In Blue hitting No.1
on the UK album chart, an 10 millions of their previous album sold, while
it may not be the right time for Andrea's thespan apirations, for her group
, The Corrs, the time has never been better.
