Corrs' Grammy Nomination Leaves Them 'Breathless'
(1/5/01, 10 a.m. ET) - Irish pop group and international superstars the Corrs have made greater inroads toward elusive American popularity with two Grammy nominations for songs from its latest album, In Blue. Their hit single "Breathless" was named in the category of best pop performance by a duo or group with vocal, while "Rebel Heart" was selected as a finalist for best pop instrumental performance.
"Breathless," co-written by song producer (and Shania Twain husband) Robert "Mutt" Lange, will compete for the honor against the Backstreet Boys' "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely," Barenaked Ladies' "Pinch Me," 'N Sync's "Bye Bye Bye," and Steely Dan's "Cousin Dupree."

Andrea Corr tells LAUNCH the song is about an age-old subject. "'Breathless' was the first song that myself and Mutt wrote together," she said. "And it's a love song, and it's [about] falling in love, and it's enticing the person the person you're falling in love [with] to just go on, you know, go that step further and kiss me or whatever."

"Rebel Heart," meanwhile, will vie for the award with Bjork's and Vincent Mendoza's "Overture (Selmasongs)," Bela Fleck & the Flecktones' "Zona Mona," the Brian Setzer Orchestra's "Caravan," and Grover Washington Jr.'s "Camaleao."

The 43rd annual Grammy Awards take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 21.
