Here is my review of the Royal Albert Concert, 25th October
2001 - 20:30 until 22:10
I went to the concert with my sister (who is called Andrea… and
my mum. Once we had found our seats, we realised that we were very, very
lucky. Having only booked them a few weeks ago, we were in the stalls in
row 5. Andrea was straight ahead of us and Prince Charles was sitting in
the box above and behind us. When the Corrs came on, I went mad…I used
my camera clicking away to capture them.
Andrea was wearing a red dress with a plunge neckline. There were little
diamantes around the edge and she also wore a black belt with it. But,
she had on no shoes…… (lol, as I expected). Andrea was as energetic as
ever, twirling around and playing with the microphone stand in an intimate
way. From what I could see, she reacted with the audience well. Considering
they have been really, really busy her voice was still fantastic – so powerful
and alive.
Caroline was awesome on the drums – they went right through me. As
we had binoculars, I was able to “zoom in” in Caro and watch her play.
God, she must have some strength!!! Caroline was wearing an animal print
vest top with black trousers and black trainers. Her hair was in the little
pony tail thing that she does.
Sharon again, a fantastic performance on the violin. She was wearing
a golden top and I think black trousers too. Her violin and solo bit sounded
so good live and the acoustics in the RAH were mind blowing.
Jim had on one of his loud shirts and blue sunglasses……he was cool…playing
up to the audience and laughing with Andy.
For me, the best songs were QOH – I was nearly crying, DSYLM – the
first time I have heard this live and Andrea was singing whilst Sharon
and Caro were doing the harmonies – they were all sitting on a stool and
SY – (next paragraph please…
I had a Corrs moment during SY. Where I was sitting I was the only
one standing up so as Andrea got to the chorus, “cause we are So Young”,
you know that bit when her arms go up in the air, well mind did too!!!
She looked right at me at the time, I don’t know if she saw me but it was
like me and her doing that bit in SY together (sorry if that sounds sad).
Now I know what people mean when they say they had a “Corrs moment”…it
sent tingles up my spine. lol
WYBH – the bunny ears and wig appeared and Andy enjoyed wearing them.
All in the gig was very good. When it had ended I wanted to cry…..however,
this is when I suggested that we go to the artists door to try and get
autographs… (was anyone else from COL there??)….
There was only about 20 people there. There were 3 limo’s waiting too.
I kept on seeing the security men taking out suitcases and clothes carriers
– they must have belonged to the Corrs. We waited for ages and they said
that they would be another hour as there was a party for people who had
won a competition. It was really cold too. My mum managed to sneak inside
with one of the Corrs security guys and started talking. People were in
and out all of the time.
I was talking to my sister and saw a familiar face (I didn’t shout
about it… . Yes I saw Giles (Andrea’s boyfriend!!!). He was wearing
a black jumper and blue jeans. I must admit – a bit better in the flesh!!!
Then, a few moments later they moved one of the limos nearer the doors
so we are all thinking that the Corrs are going to come out soon, but in
fact an ordinary looking guy came out. No one recognised him except me
– it was John Hughes!! I said hello to him but he wouldn’t give me an autograph.
He got in one of the cars and they sped off.
We waited another hour and then suddenly the security / drivers came
out and drove off in the other two limos – really fast. We were all getting
confused and most people had gone by now. My mum came out and said that
the security mad had said that the Corrs had gone out another exit – no
lies this was true. She was sitting the office with him and could see the
TV screens – not once did she see them leave to come out of our side. Apparently,
the security guard told my mum that they are really strict at present because
of the terrorist attacks and the fact that they are Irish, they just have
to be more careful (you know, the problems in Northern Ireland and all
that, plus the recent US stuff… He said to her that the Corrs wanted
to come out but the security wouldn’t let them….so at 00:30 we got a taxi
home (the concert had finished at 22:10!!).
I took 25 pictures and have sent them to be developed. I will try and
scan them when they are done. Sorry if this is long, but I hope that you
enjoyed my review!!
P.S I also held up my sign, “ I couldn’t be Happier” for when they
played WYBH – I hope they saw it…!!!!
