My birthday was on the 5th February and my parents had bought tickets to see the Corrs concert as well as plane tickets to Sydney for my birthday. Unfortunately, Andrea was struck down with a serious ear infection and the concert was postponed. This is my story of the greatest birthday present I have ever received :)
It was time. As soon as the lights went out, the crowd started going
ballistic. The Lough Erin Shore introduction played as we watched the screens
and the stage for any sign of our favourite band. The black curtains billowed
and with a big bang, fell to the ground revealing The Corrs. They began
"Only When I Sleep" as the crowd went wild. Caroline was wearing glittery
pants, a diamonte style belt (I think she nicked it from Andy after the
Wembley concert), and a black sleeveless top with sequins running from
the left shoulder to the middle. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail
and she had glitter everywhere! Jim had a red shirt, black pants and black
boots. His hair was all fluffed up which made him look quite amusing! Andrea
wore a pink dress with a brown belt and of course, bare feet. Sharon looked
elegant as usual with an olive coloured dress and brown ankle boots. Caroline
was a cutie all night long, beginning with the end of "Give Me A Reason"
(GMAR), where she took her stick off the hi-hats and looked very proud
of herself for completing the song. Next was "Irresistable". Caroline was
pretty funny here, stretching up and arching her back as though she had
a back pain! Keith thought that was pretty funny and Caro poked her tongue
out at him! After Irresistable, Andrea apologised about "me and my ear"
delaying the concert. She also invited us to sing, clap, dance, even propose
marriage, and that "Jim is available for any decent offers".
The first instrumental of the night came with "Joy of Life" (JOL) and
then we had "a song for the broken-hearted" with "I Never Loved You Anyway"
(INLYA). Next Caroline moved toward the piano and knowing what was about
to come, the crowd went nuts. Andrea told us that this song had a lot of
memories from Australia for them and that they loved performing it here.
Then Caro came and sat up with Andy and Sharon. They did a beautiful rendition
of "Don't Say You Love Me" (DSYLM) and then "All The Love In The World"
(ATLITW). Before our favourite band had a ball playing "Old Town", someone
yelled out "We love you Caroline" and the crowd went really wild. There
was yells, wolf-whistles, clapping and cheers. The look on her face was
priceless. The zooped up version of "Old Town" was fantastic and the same
with "Radio". I particularly liked Caro's drums beats before they got into
it. Andrea introduced "a song from Talk On Corners" which was "Queen Of
Hollywood" (QOH). The screen work was perfectly done with all the Corrs
in black and white with a bit of static thrown in for good measure.
"No More Cry" was fantastic. By now, Caroline looked hot. On her little
table she had a bottle of yellow Lucozade and two bottles of water. And
between the songs, she had a REALLY long drink. Poor thing!
Sharon then came on stage amid calls of "We love you Sharon!" She thought
that was pretty funny. Then they segued into part two of "Haste To The
Wedding" (HTTW). After that, Andrea started panting into the microphone
and Caro started up "Breathless".
When they came back out, Andy talked about their new single and how
it was made in Australia. She said that the people at the end were real
and with a spooky look on her face, said that they might even be in the
audience tonight! And "Would You Be Happier" (WYBH) is FANTASTIC live and
the video is even better on a huge screen!
Next we went ballistic with "So Young" (SY) and finally "Toss The Feathers"
(TTF). They gave us a bow and wished us goodnight.
The first thing I said to Mum and Dad afterwards?
"Can we start again?"
